アモール・アポロ型特異小惑星2011 MDの接近 LINEARサーベイで2011年6月22日06時21分にヘルクレス座を撮影した捜索画像上に 18等級の小惑星が発見され,この小惑星は6月27日に地球に0.0001 AUまで接近する ことが判明した(MPEC M23, 2011).小惑星は,発見後,これまで3日間の間,観測 され,美星スペースガードセンターでは,122個の観測から次の軌道を計算した. Mo= 53.3725 Epoch = 2011 Aug. 27.0 TT ω = 4.8481 e = 0.037556 H = 28.1 Ω = 272.3498 (2000.0) a = 1.055661 AU G = 0.15 i = 2.4485 n゚= 0.9086938 q = 1.016014 AU P = 1.08 年 One opposition orbit from 122 observations, 3 days arc.  この軌道によると,小惑星は,2011年6月27日17時00分UTに地心まで0.00012 AU( 約1.8万Km)まで接近する.小惑星は,インド洋から南アフリカ最南端から南アメリカ 最南端を通過し,太平洋へと抜けて行く.その地表面への接近を以下に示した.地表 面への最接近は6月27日17時00分UT頃,南アメリカ最南端(λ=297゚54',φ=−57゚42') ふきんで起こる.このとき,小惑星と地表面の距離は,12,223-Kmで,対地表面速度は, 秒速6.69-Km/sとなる.なお,この小惑星の標準等級はH=28.1等で,直径は,約8.2-m (推定)で微小の天体であった. 小惑星は,最接近日6月27日15時20分から17時00分まで11等級くらいまで明るくなる. 我が国でも6月27日の夕刻には13等級で観測できるだろう.美星での予報位置を下に示 す.
